This painting was inspired by a conversation I had with a Nebraska Furniture Mart Security Guard who was a retired veteran. He was telling me stories of his time in service and how he spoke up for equal rights for blacks back in the 60s. Our conversation shifted to the memorials and he told me I should take a closer look at the Guardian Spirits at the top of the Liberty Memorial (National World War One Memorial). Upon a closer look I just had to paint one of the 4 guardian spirits. This original will likely show up as a future sticker for the Kansas City Art Mail Club.
