The Story
This painting was the turning point in my artistic journey. This painting is my true north. Let me explain. For years I was enjoying making and selling art. I would always sell a few pieces a year but it was still more of a hobby for me than a career. In December of 2024, Nebraska Furniture Mart reached out and invited me to be part of their Black History Month display again. I decided for the very first time that I would make prints. I also decided that I would lean into my watercolor art instead of just focusing on oil.
I had taken a few simple photos of some of my favorite spots around Kansas City to include in my watercolor collection. This was the first one. I had fun making this. I decided to be loose with my pen work and watercolor application. This is my Magnum Opus. My true north. Whenever my style drifts, or I need to be reminded that all the skill I need lives within me already, I take a look back at this originals. This painting is what I consider the TRUE start of my “storybook style art of Kansas City”.
In 2025, this winter time print was my highest selling of the year and continues to be a top seller to this day. This is part of my personal collection which I don’t really want to sell. But, if someone out there really wants to take it off my hands I’d be willing to part with it for the amount listed.
